Ars Antiqua: Home

Welcome to "An Ars Antiqua Renaissance" web site. During the decade of the 1960's, the concert-touring group (the only one of its kind in those days) of instrumentalists, singers, actors and dancers performed 22 original concert productions of material from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods of history. We've just recently discovered that many of our amateur tape recordings of the live performances in our "home base" of the Rochester, New York Memorial Art Gallery have been well enough preserved to be digitized and preserved. We've made some selections of these recordings and are presenting them to the you in this 4 CD Set as an Ars Antiqua Renaissance...40-45 years after the fact. The company, under the direction of Dorothy Amarandos, was known for its elegance and grace, its dedication to authenticity, and its devotion to bring to life the masterpieces of ages long ago to audiences that had not heard any of it before.
